HELP! Takegawa 106 pouring oil out the breather hose!

Okay guys so just like the title says... I have a Takegawa 106 kit with a CRF70 Head Ported and Polished. Oh mikuni 22mm carb also. So the bikes jetting was off a bit and wasnt particularly up to par you can say.

So a few days ago I noticed that the bike was a little low on oil so I changed the oil and all was good. Then I checked the gapping on the spark plug and after I put the plug back in the the plug wire tapped the exhaust and burnt a tiny bit of plastic on the plug wire but plastic only just cosmetically on the outside. But whatever, the bike ran like crap after that happend... wouldnt hold an idle, had to be pop started, totally down on power.

Now yesterday when I go to ride after pop starting the bike I notice that there is oil pissing out of the breather tube on the head every time I rev the bike. You can see the oil sitting at the begining of the breather hose but right when you rev it up you get about 3inches of oil coming up the breather tube.

So what my conclusion is... It is having starting issues because of the slightly burnt spark plug wire. And my piston has blow-by so either my piston or wrings are garbage. I really hope it has NOTHING to do with my bottom end.

Thanks for any info!

Blown head gasket? Actually I don,t know, but I think that with 57mm cylinder the head gasket could easily broke. And could the pressure go through stud holes inside cylinder head and and through oil flow back canal in to the cases?? Just an idea, if piston and cylinder look OK.

I have the same problem with my tak 106. I have not really looked any further into it but possibly you added too much oil in your motor. Its not a serious issue with your bottom end.. lol.

My 108 did the same thing, I just removed the breather and everything is fine now.

Re: HELP! Takegawa 106 pouring oil out the breather hose!

If you are getting blow-by at the piston, it would pressurize the bottom end. Perhaps it has enough pressure to keep the oil from flowing out of the head. Keep in mind only gravity lets the oil back from the head to the crank case through that tube under the cylinder. So because no oil can get out of the head yet the pressure lube keeps oil flowing to the head, oil has nowhere to go and the head actually fills up with oil. Once the head is full the oil can go nowhere but up and out the breather hose.

This is all just a guess, look into blow-by and other forms of pressure loss.

thanks for the help/ideas. Im gonna putt the motor today after work and pull off the head. I think this may be the perfect time to also do some upgrading. What are my options for larger displacement with this takegawa 106 kit if I just want to increase the piston and cylinder. could I do a 117 with just replacing both of those and maybe a +R superhead or DOHC takegawa kit!

sounds like time for a new top end, I have a tak 106 with kitaco head and you just need new rings and maybe piston and you won't leak oil out the breather anymore.

Imma pull the motor out tonight. Clean it spotless... And atleast take off the head so I can see if the head is damaged and or a head gasket issue.

Anybody know what the crank and piston mm the takegawa 106(mine) should be?

depending on the crank you have? ie stock 41.4mm crank & 57mm scut piston makes 106cc or takegawa 50mm crank and 52mm piston also makes 106cc are you sure your rear engine case breather is not trapped\blocked in any way causing pressure build up ?
