| need help with takegawa 124 motor
I have a takegawa motor 124 motor with a kitaco cylinder. It had a kitaco se head on it and I sold it thinking I was going to buy one of the new takegawa r heads. I dont have the money to buy one of the high dollar heads right now and I was wondering does anyone know of a cheaper head that would work on that set up? Like a trail bikes head ect. I am no expert on these motors so I need some help please thanks!!!

Im confused! you say its a takegawa motor but you have a kitaco124 head and sleave wouldnt this be a kitaco motor, unless theres a takegawa clutch on it but id hardly call that a take motor the head is going to have to match your 54mm piston im not even sure if the kitaco piston would work with the takegawa heads??? do a search in the classifieds to see if there are any takegawa super heads or kitaco se heads Last edited by LongMooie; 08-26-2009 at 05:07 PM. |

Yup, or the new TB Honda head with 30mm intake. Pistons made for the combo. Still a few weeks from the catalog, but it's gonna be sweet.

Any idea on its price? Any word on how it stacks up against the Kitaco SE or Taki superhead +R?

I'll be testing one this week. So far, things sound promising.

Is this head a crf50 stud pattern compatibile version of the TB Import Race Head (TBW9047)- 30mm intake valve, 23.5mm exhaust valve, 30mm intake port, 25mm exhaust port. Let us know how it performs.

I tested mine this past Sunday and it rips.................I'm thinkin that a S30 cam grind for this head will wake it up. Gonna have a TB300 sent to Crower and have them put the Tak S30 specs on it and I'll let ya know how much more. But the thing rips with the TB300 now. Can you say power wheelies.......

It's not a roller, just a BVH for the CRF.....

Guys.. Im friends with Bat999 and saw the head this weekend. Even helped with a little on the install lol.. Look here is the deal it has the same size valves as the V2 head from TB but has the honda stud spacing.. It uses the TB300 cam but comes with a totally different intake... You could use the 26mm boot or a 28mm boot from any takegawa or Kitaco intake and put it on the TB intake.. (No more funny bolt spacing on the Tb intake on the rubber boot side)..It is not a roller set up.. It has regular rocker arms... The piston is 54mm and is different..It has more of a dome and deeper cut outs for the bigger valves than the current (race head piston). Now we are not using that piston as Bat999 has the TB 95cc 54mm piston (for the old race head) in this bike so we did have to modify his piston a little.. The piston the new head comes with is for the TB 51mm crank... hope that helps a little.. With a good cam this head will be as good as my +R roller head I have from takegawa so yes here is a cheap head that I would put aginst the SE head or the +R.. It just lacks a high lift high duration cam a +R head with a S30 cam would out pull tb300 cam. So for now thats the only thing you might wana source.... We roadrace the bikes so we look for MAX HP #s and run the biggest cams we can... I wana know if the piston works on a 63mm cylinder and a 51mm crank. would it work if you sourced a DR-atv 54mm crank and a 69 cylinder.. Cause if so then you could build a 124cc motor that with the right cam would run with any Jap headed 124 for a LOT less..

Rollers are hype... I've mocked-up several combos with the new piston/head setup. It's gonna be popular The old piston will give lower compression in the new head. 63mm jug and stock crank uses the same piston height as a 51mm crank. Shorter rod. The new piston is a touch shorter, to use the thinner head gasket, is all. 69mm jug and 12v DrATV crank will make an econo-124. I'm not sure that adding 20 degrees more duration is a good thing, even for a road racer. Maybe scale back to the S25?
