| the need for intake breather hose?
how necessary is this? I'm looking to get one and was wondering what type of performance gain I will be getting. It has a Takwaga 88kit. Takegawa Breather Pipe for Intake Valve Cover for CRF50 - Takegawa - Pit Bike Parts |

yea i would say get it, cuz it releases pressure in the head, result is it revs up quicker....more acceleration

more useful in bigger stroker motors, you wont notice a difference really though it will just release the pressure that builds up an keep oil from blowing out your crank breather

Don't waste your money, I had one on my kitaco 124se and all it did was blow oil out everywhere, i threw it in the trash

You can save a good bit of money if you make you're own. I didn't notice a difference at all with mine though, it just blows oil out if you are running it pretty hard.

its blowing oil out the line because of the excess pressure its releasing. its definitely a good part to have.

Spend your cash on something else, you will not notice anything as a power increase or gain.

its not just for power gains, its also to help the motor live longer by balancing out the pressure inside the motor.

Make your own, just like i am gonna do! It will only cost about 5-10 bucks. There are a few threads on it, just search it.

It's fairly simple to make. Make sure you get a pipe thread fitting so it won't leak. I used an 1/8" pipe thread fitting to a 1/4" hose end.

People who say it is a waste of money because you don't "notice" it adding power are clueless and don't understand the benefits or what it's actually for. You don't "need' it but it only benefits your motor...... period. |

You threw a part away because it was doing it's job? LOL! Why wouldn't you just route the hose to release the oil at the back of the bike like everyone else does? The hose is long enough then to where it doesn't blow oil everywhere. | |

if you have one you can do a simple test to see how it helps. with the motor running plug the end of the breather hose line with your finger so no pressure can come out and listen to how your motor runs. youll quickly notice that when you plug the breather hose your motor starts running like crap and when you take your finger off the hoes and the pressure comes out your motor sounds and runs better. i recommend it to any one who was a take motor over 88cc. if you a china 125cc dont worry about it.... |

I installed one and noticed quicker revs and it did run slightly smoother. I have had no issues with oil coming out. Hell, I don't ever see oil in the tube at all. Would recommend it. Don't know why other people have so many problems.

My CRF250r came with 1 outa the factory...so I say its good for the high powered, high reving motors.

As said by most of the others if you have a high reving motor it will be good for the motor, but if your looking for performance gains look else where

For his engine... not needed. For 90% of proper built 50 based engines they aren't needed. If you notice a major difference then you should probably check your ring gaps and alignment cause you are building quite a bit of excess pressure. Yes, the least amount of pressure in the cases the better off you are; that's why I run my engines on negative crank pressure. At the least, I have a one way valve on the crank breather, which your 250f has in the crank compartment and some high rpm street bikes even come with built into the head breathers stock. If you want to test this the correct way you will go to a dyno. They aren't just for power numbers you know. You can test the seconds it takes to get from one rpm level to another. If you don't see a difference then you know the truth for that particular engine... Wait a second, I have done that on my dyno on a few of my mini engines (that I built to my standards). None showed an improvement in either power OR rpm pick up time from just the addition of a head breather. The small displacement horizontal engines just shouldn't build pressure to the head when built right. To each his own though. For my mini engines, no I don't run them. On the grand national dirt track engines I build... they all have negative pressure with head breathers.
