| New Mikuni VM26 Carb
Just put on a new carb, the Mikuni VM26. I thought I'd give a review of it since I saw so many posts with people thinking it was too big of a carb for a 108 kit or that it was for a "road racing" set up. Well, right out of the box this carb was set up perfect. You wouldn't believe the increase in power this carb provided from my 22mm I had on before. If I had a camera to take a pic of my broken rear fender and bruised a** I'd give you guys some proof of how surprising the power is. I thought the power would all be on the top end, but I was really wrong. This thing makes my bike pull hard right off the start and just builds from there with no hesitation whatsoever. The carb also idled perfectly right out of the box, and started up on the first kick. The only downfall to this carb is the rear fender I now need to fix and the pair of jeans I ripped. For anyone considering a performance upgrade for their 108 kit, I HIGHLY recommend the mikuni vm26 (theres a reason they come with the new stroker kits). |

stock jetting right out of the box, I believe it's a 190 main and 22.5 pilot with the needle in the middle position. I also have the pro circuit ti-4 exhaust on it. I thought I was gunna have to tune it down a little, but I was wrong; its perfect.

I can't even imagine the power you'll make with the 117 and this carb, I'm sure it rips! and next upgrade on my list is tranny as well so well see when that happens.

I got mine from ahpminis for 174. It is expensive, but it is MUCH better quality than any chinese copy. It's also nice because its got the pull out choke instead of the stupid metal lever to pull up, and also the idle is on the left side right below the choke so you can adjust it easily with your fingers. I finally got a chance to ride my bike with the 26mm carb and then my friends bike with a 20mm (who also has the same 108 stroker set up i have), and there really is a significant difference in power. Don't get me wrong his ran great with the 20, but the power just didnt hit as hard as mine does. His had a nice crisp pickup with a smooth power delivery, but mine has a much more powerful punch to it right around the mid range area and it just keeps building. |

so im hoping to buy a vm26 today, had a few questions since you have just been through this tho so like i said, ive got the shengway 20mm now..do i need a different intake? (I know i need the rubber boot that bolts from the carb to the intake, bud didnt know if id need an actual intake itself..) and also, does this mount up just like a regular 20mm? (or your 22mm?) what im getting at, do i have to use tank risers or any of that? or will all clearances be fine without any changing needed. thanks! ooh one other thing, im guessing the air filter for the 26 is larger than the 20mm also? |

The carb I bought for 174 came with everything needed, new chrome intake tube, rubber boot, air filter, and new throttle cable. It mounts up just like a 20 would, just with the rubber boot added. Also, you'll need to raise your tank, but I did it by simply using 4 large washers (2 in front, 2 in back). 2 washers front and back was enough for me to clear everything and didn't cost a cent. Also to get a little more performance out of it today I ported my intake hole to match the carb intake tube, ported the exhaust hole to match my header diameter, and cleaned up the head around the valves. Really made a big difference and the bike seems to run much crisper than it did before. Of course my bike still ran great just with the addition of the new carb, but porting out the engine helped even more. |
