| Is porting worth the cost?
I have a tb 88 race head kit and will it make a big difference in power to get my head ported? Will I notice a lot?

YES, if makes a difference. Why buy a race head and not get everything out of it? spend the extra $$.. I had mine done by Cat 5 motorsports and really impressed. Tbolt USA can hook you up.

Porting is definately worth the cost. Just make sure you have someone with a reputation for doing good work do it. There seem to be many right ways, just not everyone knows them.

Nope, port work will not make the head any less reliable than normal. I recomend RJP Racing, he does awesome work and doesnt charge a whole lot.

i would honestly say w/ a tb race head, i wouldn't spend too much cash flow on it...not to sound like an ass, but you'd be better off saving your cash for an se/+r/ultra head...and then porting that head if it isn't enough for you...

If the guy wants $800 bucks to do it then NO it's definitely not worth it. Especially if you can have CAT5 who has a great reputation do it for $150. Chances are pretty high the $800 dollar guy is just a middleman.

RJP only charges $150 as well, and I think he has a much stouter reputation for building race engines as well. He's a advertiser on PM, or you can get ahold of him and see some of the teams he works for here, http://www.bikeworldmotorsports.com/ And a SE, or +R head is definetly not needed, my RJP ported TB head is plenty fast enough against them in every race I run. |
