Scored piston/cylidner

When you replace a scored piston/cylinder.. you get a new piston kit and what do you do with the cylinder? Get it honed?

Re: Scored piston/cylidner

usually if it has been scored ya need to bore it and if ya do that ur piston kit will be too small......best to return the piston kit and get a kit with a matched cylinder

Re: Scored piston/cylidner

On these bikes boring the cylinder is almost pointless. A new cylinder is so cheap you might as well replace rather than repair in this case.

Re: Scored piston/cylidner

depending on how bad it is you can just run a really light ball hone on the cylinder. You can get 2 to 3 hones out of them if who is doing the hone knows what there doing. Throw a new piston in and be good as new.

Haha its not my engine anymore so its not at my house to take pics but ill try and get some somehow. My friend (owner of the engine) had his friends look at it and they said it could be honed and then be usable.
