| Spark??
I just got a xr50 from a friend for $100. It has some crazzy jap crap 107cc in it with a 5 speed and clutch. It didn't run when I got it soo I went threw the carb and found out that the slide was stuck it started right up after that and ran great for about a block when it just shut down. Ive gone through everything and it's not getting any spark at all. My guess would be that its the coil. If you guys agree do you think that the kitaco super coil would be a good choice?? Any input is appreciated thanks.

try a new plug even if its just to see if you can get a spark, check for loose wires thats all i can think of if its not the coil |

I would also try checking your CDI, If you know someone with the same bike you could try theirs. It only takes a minute to swap.

Is it the stock wiring for a xr 50? some ppl put in different "high performance" wiring kits on the bike and a lot of the kits are junk. The bike i bought had aftermarket wiring and I had to to through and make sure all the wires were touching before I could get a spark. Check where the wiring goes into the spark plug cap, sometime this comes loose for whatever reason and will make it impossible for your bike to start. Its probably not this but you can check. Also you can use a carb or mass air flow cleaner on all the connections to clean them out and see if that helps. Just some cheap ways to possibly fix it without having to buy and major parts.
