My Mood: | stupid question
I was on Trail Bikes website and ordered their 51mm crank to make my 88RH a 108 stroker. It doesn't come with a piston so I assumed mine would work and I could just put some new rings on it and be done with it. Then I noticed they have an 88 w/ racehead piston kit that is a different part number than the 108 stroker w/ racehead piston kit. Are these pistons different? Offset wrist pin or something? Thanks http://www.hondatrailbikes.com/catal...roducts_id=801 Part #TBW0365A http://www.hondatrailbikes.com/catal...roducts_id=803 Part #TBW0365C (this is what's in my bike now) Last edited by caseclosed715; 11-04-2009 at 12:43 PM. |

the piston for the race head is different because of the bigger valves and the race head has a bigger combustion chamber , so the piston has more dome , I do beleave u will be alright but I would cal TB or get another opinion from someone that has done it before , I know that with a 134 kit on a 110 with the stock head and a stroker crank you have to run two lower gaskets to keep the piston from hitting the valves . it might be the same with you .

Yeah my bike has the Race Head. I was hoping I could use the piston that's in it because there's nothing wrong with it once I put new rings on it and hone the cylinder.

thats what i did...I already had the 88 race head kit on a complete motor i bought, it only had a few hours on it so I talked to Terry when I got my stroker crank, ended up all i needed was the crank, gaskets, and replaced the rings while i was in there (and lightly honed the cylinder) and i was good to go

lol I sure hope so that last crank I put it made the piston pop out so far I probably would have had like 18:1 compression, didn't even need a spark plug haha...live and learn I suppose

hells yeah!! would buying a (im guessing 69mm) cylinder, piston, and longer studs be cheaper than buying a whole crank?? if youve already got that crank in there..and not really sure what it would make it to be (124 or something maybe? not real sure how all those numbers come up to be cc wise) you might look into that route?? idk, youre choice |

Yeah I did think about that but I figured it would cost just about as much to replace the whole top end to make it work than to just get TB's crank. Splitting the cases and putting it back together was unbelievably easy so it's not that big of a deal. I'm stoked it's gonna be here tomorrow I can't wait to see what a stroker feels like. I wish I had a 24mm or 26mm carb though...

the stroker kit on TB i saw other day included the new piston and even barrell with it because I was told since the length of the crank/arm is longer the piston needs be a different size and barrel to accomodate the compression difference...I been askn this similar question all week because I have a TB race head and a tak 88kit which btw apparently wont work together. And was told that the TB kit I could just pay the $265 and it included stroker crank, piston and barrel, and everything needed for the race head.

idk about crossing over between tak, kitaco, tb, bbr, etc, like i said tho I talked to terry, he said on mine since my motor already had the $350 racehead kit, all i needed was the crank. TDC and all that was good, so everything seemed like it was supposed to go together to me.. i did put a tb stroker crank with a tb racehead kit. caseclosed last crank he bought i believe required a 69mil long cylinder, which is why it was popping out. | |

Same piston. You'll be fine. Quote:
