| Tire size....help?
I am currently running a 12" front and rear wheel. I have a Bridgestone 80/100-12 on the rear, and am trying to find a good tire size for the front. The guys at the local shop were trying to sell me a Starcross 2.5 X 12, which is quite a bit shorter than the 80/100-12 I already have for the rear. I did not buy the tire because it seemed wierd to run a tire in the front that was shorter than the rear. I told them this, and they did not know what else to suggest. What is a good size tire to run on my front 12" wheel that will be a great combo with my 80/100-12 rear? Thanks for the help! |

Found out Bridgestone makes a 60/100-12. Anybody know the height of this tire in relation to the 80/100-12? Is it the same height as the 80/100, just skinnier? I don't know much about what the sizes mean.

it will look funny either way you go about it unless you get a smaller tire on teh back......ive seen a buncg of bikes 12-12" and they look goofy cuz the rear wheel is bigger than the front is

Thanks Matt, that is what I am afraid of. Will the 60/100-12 at least be bigger than the Starcross 12-2.5? The 80/100-12 is the smallest rear tire I can find for the 12" rim.

Now see, I was told specifically to get a skinnier front than rear when I got dirt tires. I've got an 80/100-12 rear, and a 60/100-12 front that I'm going to be mounting. I was initially going to get a pair of 80/100-12 rears and just use them on both ends, but I was told that is NOT the hot setup. Here's how the numbers work Old method: 2.5 x 12 - First number = length around the tire from bead to bead. Bigger number, 'larger' profile/tread area - Second number = diameter of bead, match to rim diameter New method: 80/100R12 - First number = Size of tread area in mm - Second number = Size of sidewall in percent, based on tread. 100 means the sidewall is 100% of the tread area, or in this example 80mm. 70 would be 70% or 56mm, lower profile. - Third number = diameter of bead, match to rim diameter |

- Kurlon - What is the reasoning they gave you for not run'n the rear tire on the front ? - I have bought 2 rear bridgstones but have not mounted them as of yet . - I have tried the front starcross with the rear starcross which made the rear end higher and made it nose dive off of jumps . But after taking alot of turns out of rear shock spring which lowered the rear end it made it alot better . - The only way to run a" true " front tire that'll work with a 12" rear at this time is to run a 14" front . Note : - I did find that the Extreme CR2 has 12's on both ends . I was told that Extreme makes their own brand of tire and can be purchased thru them . - I thought of trying them but ran out of funds at the moment to get them . They are cheaper than other tires out there but don't know how they would work . I will try them eventually , but as for now I'm hang'n out at home with a broken collar bone so all r+d work has come to a screetching hault ](*,) . |
