What engine? 124se, 124+R, tb 117?

Hey,

Right now I have the old trusty 88cc ftp engine in my 50, but Im looking to race and my backyard track is way to demanding for 6 horsepower or whatever it puts out.

I want something with enough power to not always have to use it all. Its very sandy at my house and probably a few hosrepower will be lost in the sand. I have no clue what engine or setup to get. I am leaning toward getting a used one off here so I can get a good transmission also. I would say nothing over 1200 or im just daydreaming.

Thins Ive considered = A used 117 se, a used 124se, a used 124+r (all with the good transmission)
Or maybe a tb117 kit but I just cant imagine it having anything against a kitaco built motor I just dont have a good feeling about the tb117. I emailed them to see how much power they said it had, and they said 11-12..I dont know if thats enough for what I want. I am going to build supercross obstacles in my backyard and I want to be able to be in a rythm section and able to give it gas and launch.

PLease help me.

Is this it? http://www.planetminis.com/f11/honda...ne-126594.html Im not looking to spend 1700 on a non dohc motor. For 300 more I could get a dohc. Ive seen 117 se for 1000 shipped and someone is selling a 124se for like 1200 shiped I think?

Get a knock off like a GPX 140 or something.

Or rebuild your 88 with a +R head.

If your gonna do it, go big, get a 124!

I had the 88, 108, 117 and a 124.... The 124 is the way to go.

And if your shopping for cheap price's, your in the wrong sport, lol.

Then you want the +R, it will have more power then the Kitaco out of the box.

If you can't get the power out of a 124+r you probably need to get a big bike like a 250F.I weigh 200# with gear on and my tak 115 has got me over anything I ever needed to clear on the track. It's all in the port work, carb and gearing.

Whats your obo on yours? Anyways yah I think tak 124 +r... But there is a thread right now in the sale section that looks like a 124 se with 20hp @13,000rpm that will do it and its 1200 shipped. Good deal to me.

Oh like a 108 +r? Hmmm sounds good but then a brand new +r and stroke kit is going to be a 1000+ might as well buy a whole new motor. But thats not bad but then I would have to drop a grand on a clutch.

How much? Will that work on a stroked 88? (wich would be a 108 I belive) Or does it have to be a 124? Right now I dont have much money but I think im going to make money tonight with some sales and if my other stuff sales I should be good to go.

Is there much difference between 124 +r kit older version and the 124+r newer edition? How will they pull against the 119 dohc.

I think Jake Osborne Runs the 88 with the superhead and look at him fly. That just goes to show, its all about the rider. You can also go with a Daytona 150. But really, these engines put out ridiculous torque to those 10' wheels and are way unnecessary for just backyard riding.

Well yah but the reason I need power is because its very sandy and yah I guess your right they do put out ridiculous torque. It really is about the rider, thats the problem......IM RIDING it!! Haha. What you think I should do? I wouldnt want to build a motor and spen a grand on a bore kit when I can just get like a 117 se with the tak close ratio tranny for a grand shipped.
