| 85 ATC 70 headlight install Can anyone please give me specific instructions/details on how to install a headlight on an 85 atc 70? I'd like to just have the headlight come on when the bike is on. Thanks. |

I think dratv details how to wire it up under the atc70 parts list. The 85 atc70 should already have a stator and just needs to be wired up and bam you've got lights.

As Scott posted above, your 1985 ATC Stator already has lighting coils. Just run the lead (look at your wiring diagram) to your headlamp, and ground your headlamp's green wire and you'll be good to go.

Z, where exactly is the stator located? I haven't taken anything off yet and looked. Thanks.

I ordered the 6V light from Sterdy. I want to have the lights on when the bike is on. Can anyone tell me if it matters whether I wire to the low or the high beam from the light? Is the low for the 6V and the high for the 12V system?

Is there a special technique in taking item 5 off in the pic above? I got the nut and washer off, but what else holds this cover on? I need to get to the stator and points behind it. Thanks.

You don't need to take it off. If you need to remove the flywheel, do it with a flywheel puller. You can't get the flywheel off without one. You can, but the process is much more difficult.

Ok now what? I wired the headlight exactly like the directions say in the pic above. My bike already had wires coming out of the stator at the top of the case by the pull start. I cut the green wire from the connector (connector wasn't plugged into anything and had a cover over the end of it) and connected to the blue and the white separately. The ground wire was gounded altough I can't be for sure the 2 spots I picked were the best grounders. Where's the best and least inconspicuous place? Any thoughts on what could be the light issue? thanks, Last edited by bmyers98; 03-10-2009 at 10:00 AM. Reason: added picture, revised post |
