My Mood: | Adding a kicker to the 70 motor?
Here is the scenario: I grabbed this 84 ATC 70 off craigslist for $125. Someone had it in storage for the last 20 years. I swapped the Lifan 140 out of my pit bike into the 70 which leaves me with a stock ATC motor. I'm using the 70's pullstart on the Lifan so I was thinking of adding a kicker to the Honda motor and dropping it into the pit bike. I plan on adding a 88 kit to it as well, so the engine is currently torn down to clean out the sludge from sitting in storage for 20 years and prep it for the 88cc top end. Upon digging into it I see that there is what looks like provisions for a kicker internally. So my question is, can I add a kicker and a auto clutch side cover from let's say a Z50 or XR50? Has anyone done this or have any suggestions? Tim |

You will need to split the cases to install a Z/XR/CRF50 kickstarter assembly, and the clutch cover from the same bike, to make it work. I believe you also have to cut away some of the inner right rear fender, for clearance when using the kickstarter. There may also be a clearance issue with the right rear tire and the kicker.

I want to swap it into my fiddy so there wont be a fender issue anyways. Thanks for the input!

update: The kicker off a CT70 is a perfect fit, split the cases and dropped right in like it belongs there. Now I just need a clutch cover with a kicker hole and seal. Looks like a z50/ct70 will fit. |
