Why would you have to remove the shaft?

Re: atc 70 oil pump help!!

Thats no good for me. atc 70's have a different shaft then a xr/crf50 and xr/crf70. When getting a aftermarket pump for a atc they give you the pump you would put on a xr or a crf but a different shaft.

Im not sure how to get the shaft out of the motor?
It would be the same way as the xr/crf if that helps.

Re: atc 70 oil pump help!!

Get a pump for 6V engines, saves you the trouble of having to take your starter mechanism, flywheel, stator and cam chain off to swap the schaft...
You can see the difference on the pictures here (scroll down halfway the page)

Re: atc 70 oil pump help!!

You can stick a flat screwdriver in the end of the 6v shaft and turn CCW. It will thread out. Slip the 12v conversion shaft in it's place, tighten with needle-nose pliers, install pump. You may have to wiggle things around or pull the stator plate. If you have a stroker, it's ugly...
