ATC 70 or trx90 with piranha 160 engine

Just curious if anyone has done this swap yet?

I found the engine for sale on tbolts website, but I'm not sure what all would have to be ordered for it to work. Or should I say, I'm not sure where to order what I need.

Engine, harness, cdi, carb, etc.....

The rear kicking design isn't an issue for me, neither is the frame being too short, both are easily fixed.

If I do the swap, I'd like to wire in a battery and such so as to have adequate lighting at low rpm.

Thinking of tackling this one after the first of the year. But would like to know EVERYTHING that needs to be purchased first.

Also would like the opinion of the piranha 160 motors and what their power output is like.

Thanks in advance

okay looking at the engines, I also noticed you currently have a special on the gpx160.

What's everyone's opinion on the better engine out of the two?

another thought, which one has the better lighting coil?

the stator plates are interchangable with crf50 just so you know , the standard ignitions have a pretty good lighting set up for normal street type systems

my lifan 140 has all sorts of intake clearance issues on the atc 70, thats with the mikuni 24mm copy. I refuse to choke this engine with a tinier carb. keep stuff like that in mind with the swap.

You can check mine out on 3ww, mad 70s, it is a pirana 160 kit all but the carb, look for the orange trike with pirana on the tank, [it was painted long before I found out about the wholesale cycle] I have a 150 and another 160 I will soon be installing in two of my other race trikes. power is more than you can really use till you get in high gear.

Worked like a charm, although my carb shoots out the right side now. Thanks for the fast shipping and great service Vince!

Thanks buddy, I'd seen the little vids, but didn't know what everyone was running.

You just pop start it?

I'm thinking of just bending the kicker out, mounting far forward and hand starting the kicker.

YES YES YES YES YES! the first of the year can't come fast enough!

you'll love hand starting it after a kickback, sprained my wrist trying that trick. DrATV sells a pullstart conversion for the chinese motors.
