My Mood: | ATC70 build. Show quality!
Ok, I'm about to pick up my 1984 ATC70 within the next day or two. Just finalizing the deal with the guy. I thought it was pretty neat because on top of having the title for it, he also has ALL the paperwork it came with. He even has the brochure that hung from the handlebars when it was purchased. And it comes with a lot of spare parts, almost a complete rolling chassis. I've been toying with the idea for a while now, and I have finally come up with what I want to do...or at least a general ball park of what I want to do. This is how I'm picking it up. Pretty good condition. ![]() And this is just an extremely rough draft of what I plan on doing. I photoshopped this very quickly. I want it to be slammed to the ground, spread the wheels out, and stretch it. Lower than it is pictured is what I want. I'm hoping for an inch or two of clearance max. And I want to drop a bigger motor in it, but I'm not sure what swaps I can use due to starting it. Now mind you, I haven't come up with a color scheme yet, but I want it to be LOUD!! I'm building this for pure show ONLY! I may ride it up and down the street to make sure everything works as planned, and that will be it pretty much. ![]() So my questions are: -I know how I can lower it, but as far as stretching it, what is your guy's input on it? Due to the fact of the axle being ran through the frame limits my opportunities. I'm thinking 2 different things. Build a "swingarm" for it and run it through the frame as if it were the axle, and build another hole for the other end for the axle to run through, OR hack off that section of the frame and extend the end of the frame back to the desired length and add the piece back on as if it never moved, just stretched back. -What should I use for the motor on this thing? And what can I use? Does it have to be electric or pull start, or can I run a kickstart motor on this? -And as far as suspension, I'm not sure if I want to go through the hassle of adding it on there, or just leave it rigid. Help me out guys, what do you think? I will follow along in this thread with updates, build progress, questions, or comments. |

The motor is a pull start, Dr. ATV and ATC70.com sell 88 kits for it. They make A+ frames for it which are fully suspended. Guys on 3wheeler.org and 3wheelerworldforums.com stretch these and run holeshots with 400ex hubs. 8 inch rims....
