i have an 1983 atc 70 4 speed all stock my father was the original owner/my first 3 wheeler as a kid.it runs great but we put new points in it and gapped them to honda spec and now when i ride it to the crapper aka toy hauler it sputters and cuts out but when i(richen the thing up) turn the coke on it runs perfect.i dont understand after all these years and riding it at most of the same spots its whole life why i would need to re jet the carb.any advice or another place to start to fix this problem is much appreciated

The temperature change that comes along with the change of the seasons may also force you to rejet for desirable performance.

Actually, cooler air is denser, which is why you have to richen the mixture in the cooler temps.

You don't need to rejet the carb. Clean and rebuilt the carb. I'd also see about putting a timing light on the flywheel to see where your timing is at. These motors run stronger with the timing slightly advanced. Clean out the carb... |
