Way back then, a pit bike was any small bike to ride around the pits, These days things has changed, since they started pit bike racing and specific bikes are build called pit bikes. The cradle framed, upright motor bike is now called a dirt bike or play bike, and the pit bike is a no cradle bike with a horizontal motor, that is just the way it is, you can still call your old bike a pit bike, but in the mordern racing era, it ain't a pit bike no more.

Re: ???pitbike???

If that rule was not in place what would keep some from making a 250F a 12" bike? Or just a 150R with 12/14 wheels? This rule is the best way to say the motor must be "LIKE" a crf50 or klx110 motor without ruling out china motors that are based off the some horizontal motor.

Well for one thing there is noway a 250f will comply with a 49" wheelbase even if it was accomplised the ground clearance would make it noncompetitive. Second what if I was to bring a 1970 Suzuki ds 80 to an event that has this (rule) I would not be allowed to compete cause it has a cradle frame and upright motor with 12/14 wheel combo. I beleive this bike was way be the china bike revolution ask Jimmy weinert,Gaylon mosier and others that raced these in there impromptu pitbike races.

Re: ???pitbike???

Steve, I don't think you going to get any other response than what you have, you will have to decide if the show me series want to loose riders due to the present translation of the PBRA rules been used or keep riders and gain more. Hell you guys can write your own rules, use minimoto sx rules, or use the present and translate them the right way, all I can say to help, is do not try to gain one or two riders, but in the proses loose 7 to 10.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: ???pitbike???

Just do a big wheel/cradle frame class in the series, that would be fun! I have an old KX60 I would build back up for that!!! I really like the 150R 12/14 idea my self. There is so many different motor setups you can put in these horizontal motors, no matter what class your in its never really fair because chances are someone has something bigger...

How would YOU write the rules for 10" and 12"?

Don't know what the plans are for Arena Cross...haven't really discussed it.

He is going to say anything with a 12" wheel or smaller is a pitbike....I've been arguing this since August 23rd.

That's why I think the question needs to be posted in the Roost Area....more people will stand behind the horizontal motor, etc. that you have stated.

It's seems to me they want to stand behind one rider , instead of the 50 others. they better hope that rider can cover the spread.

Re: ???pitbike???

You know that's not true,my dad cares about every single rider in the series. That's way this thread was started to find out why the rule was implemented. We are our own series not a clone of another.

The deal was a guy put 14/12 on his KLX 140, and wanted to enter it as a pitbike. I protested the bike, and said that it wasn't a pitbike. It turned into a big mess, because the guy was pretty proud of it....but we have a Big Bike Open Class specifically for these type bikes....This is why all of this has come about. A giant misconception within the Missouri Series is that if you put small wheels on it, it is a pitbike.

DBG....Shut up and bring me a Natty Light! I think Steve is just trying to get more feedback. For some reason, they think that we (CRW) do not know what we are talking about. We are not the only ones in the country that think this way. When I rode my first bar race at the Tumbleweed, Cooper would have laughed me off of the track if I showed up with a KLX 140 claiming it was a pitbike.

DENNIS...where has Cooper been by the way? Is he completely done with this stuff now?
