Wanting to help Texas pitbikers!

Guys I work at Village Creek MX in Ft. Worth Texas and me and another guy (Adam) are wanting to get a race goin on at the minicross track. Only problem is I have to prove to my boss that there will be enough riders to show up that it will be worth having a random race. Last couple of times we had a race not many riders showed up as we would have hoped, I feel that its because the track is in such bad shape, and I'm trying to convince him to let me rebuild the track and put some more air into it. So if I rebuilt the track, who would show up to race? What would ya want to see for the race (big pro purse, sponsorship giveaways, buddy race, etc.)? I can't guarantee anything, I'm just trying to talk my boss into letting us have more pitbike races, I'm really getting into the scene and I wanna help it grow, so help me out!

Re: Wanting to help Texas pitbikers!

Man i was scared that nobody was going to reply to this post at first. Well now that I got some feed back I'm going to do everything I can to get that track changed and a race going on there. I had a meeting with Gary (manages VC) and he was saying that we have to have enough riders to cover the overhead and make some kind of profit. Another thing, the little guys that are just getting into the motocross scene are the ones who consistantly go to the track on a night practice and weekends so we can't make anything too technical for them, the way the track is now (****ty for us) its perfect for the 4 year olds with training wheels. Terry is scared that a new design and pitbike riders will hurt the turn out of the little guys. I'm not there every practice to organize the mini track so it would be hard to seperate it consistantly like the night track. He is also afraid it would cost too much to rebuild the track.
I'm thinking a Sunday race would be best, because we would have everything open and all the staff would be there.

Goochracing . . I'll probably take ya up on that offer, tell Scotty and Kane they betta make there when we have the race. (i'm subway, i used to work there)

Keep the opinions of what you would want to see about the race and track changes you'd want to see comin, it helps and I LISTEN!

Re: Wanting to help Texas pitbikers!

Yeah I figured it was you , Goochracing= Lance, You need to get some flyers made and get it up on VC website that your going to revamp the pitbike track to create a buz, like I said we can hand out and post flyers at the shop and we can do it at west as well, I will check with bill once you get everything figured out. Make sure its on a Sunday, and we should be able to get some stuff to give away for the guys that race, if you work with us we will do everything we can to promote and give back to the racers. Maybe some goggles, grips, hats, maybe a helmet and a gear package. I have a little bit a pull and a few friends that I think will help out. Just let me know what I can do, we need more dirt guys in our store. Maybe we can work something out were we give you coupons to hand out to everyone that comes to practice.

No date yet, it might be a while, we're not going to conflict with any big race. But once i can get that track changed and we figure out a race day, I'll be advertising it everywhere.

Rebuild the Village track the way it was for the Black Sock Mafia race in 2005 (I believe)

It ran backwards from the way it is now and was NUTS.

hey whats up man, I'll create a buzz when i can prove to terry I will be able to get a bunch of riders there (just from this forum it sounds good) we just rebuilt the night track and the big dozer is still there, if i could get my hands on it for just a few hours . . . mmmm. As for the handouts and promotions, hell yeah, we will be more than happy to work with ya. Let me talk to terry and gary this weekend and I'll see what they think so far.

I think there could be a happy-medium between the kids and the pit riders. You could try and make table tops and 2 lines on some of the bigger jumps. I agree that a lot of the profit comes from the little guys so we need to respect them too.
