Re: 1989 kx80 inverted fork swap questions

If you can give me the length of your stem. I can measure the length of my KX65 stem (same as the 85). I'm almost positive that those forks are a bolt on affair with no mods, but you will need the entire inverted setup. The only thing that could be an issue is that there could be clearance issues with the top of the legs or tree hitting the tank. I doubt it though. Post up some pics of this bike. I had one of those back in 1989. --L*64

Re: 1989 kx80 inverted fork swap questions

thanks for the reply luck star, the neck is a little over 6" long and about a 2.5" diameter, heres a pic of the progress so far, i just started the kxr project a couple nights ago and still have a bit of fab work on my plate. i was thinking of crf 70 tank and plastics, but i'm still not sold on anything yet, my current known issues are, pipe, tank, airbox and intake to name a few but i think i'll be able t figure it out

Re: 1989 kx80 inverted fork swap questions

yah it may be counter intuitive to tear down a bike and completely re-engineer it but i think you know what i'm going for, is there anyone who can point me in the direction of some tech and not just chit chat?
