| Cheap, easy ways to quieten down a KX65
My son is getting a KX65 for Christmas and I want to avoid upsetting the neighbors. What would be some cheap, easy ways to quieten down a KX65. I know that keeping the silencer packed is a good idea, but does packing material make a difference? Would a FMF spark arrester be quieter than the OEM silencer?

Take a rag or small towel, fold it in half, and in half again the opposite way so its still a square, and put it around the tip. Use some good zipties, or a wire tie and it will be super quiet.

you can cut a 10" section of inner tube and slip it over the stinger. hose clamp it on. it'll be flappy and, eventually, melty, but quiet(er).

probably your best bet if they make an FMF Q is to go with that buddy put one on his 03 kx250 and it made a huge difference compared to my 05 kx250 with a stock pipe |

I figured the FMF spark arrester would be quieter than the OEM silencer. I've heard of using regular household fiberglass insulation as silencer packing material and back in the day we used steel wool as packing material. Are some packing materials quieter than others? |
