| cr60 engine swap
I am looking for some help with my sons cr60's. I bought 2 1984 cr60 in decent shape last spring. 1 is complete and runs amazing, super fast bike. The other bike has no motor. I'm wanting to put a 4stroke in the second bike for trail riding and wanted to know if anyones heard of anything that fits. I know there will be fab work involved and my kid still wants a clutch. any ideals?

I think that there may be enough room under the tank for an XR80/100 motor, but in all honesty-- it'd be a ton of work to a bike that's becoming a classic. Not only that, but the chassis parts are near extinction on this bike. It would be easier, cheaper, and more reliable to just pick up a used KLX110, and adding the hydro or cable clutch to it. Parts are everywhere for the bikes. I have three of them myself. If Honda was super smart, they'd build a 12/14 inch wheeled bike with the XR100 motor in it as the next chapter of pit bike racing. They'd sell a ton of them. --L*64 |
