KX 100 powereband????

My son has a kx 100 and I notice that many of the other bike HONDA< YAMAHA AND Suzuki Just sound so much more aggressive than his 100. I also have notices that it takes a little bit to get into the power band??? I have rode a little and I always thought the best riding was when you were riding in the band Just staying in that power band range. Of course I know when you brake you lose it but What needs to be done for the power band to become I guess youd day wider and quicker Why does his bike not sound like a screamer is it just Kawasakis in general??

Re: KX 100 powereband????

Yea kawi 85s and 100s were never known for having alot of power. When i was on 85s i went from a ktm to a kx and it was a night and day difference. The kx could handle much better but the kx had nothing on the ktm powerwise. But i put vforce reeds and an fmf fatty exhaust with shorty silencer on the kx and that definetly broadened the powerband.

^^^ Yep! And a good port job. Contact Gene at High Tech Horsepower. He's on here. I understand that he's very knowledgeable. Eric Gorr can do a heck of a port job also. This may seem elementary, but how fresh is your sons' top end? Reeds? Jetting correct? Air filter clean? --L*64

How old is the bike and how many hours on the engine? If it's a 1998+, check the power valve.

Re: KX 100 powereband????

The powervalve generally only helps out the low to midrange power. Wide open it doesn't do anything. It could be sticking though-- if it is, it would hold up the top end. --L*64
