Linkage, swinger, and rear sprocket is different too. I just did this exact thing with my KX100. ---L*64

Re: KX 100 wheel swap with KX 85???

Joel-- You can just do the wheels if you want. Check out my thread in this forum-- "14/17 inch wheeled KX100 project starts now", and check out my bike with the white (new style) UFO plastics on it. That's the 100 with just a wheel swap. I wanted my project to feel like a pit bike.

If you want to build an awesome bike-- leave the 100 components in place, and lace up a 15 inch rear rim to the stock 85 hub, and run it with the 17 inch front. I've seen Team Green bikes run this setup, and it's awesome. It's even an option on the Kaw parts breakdown. It would only cost you a rear rim, a set of spokes, a tube and tire. I was half tempted to do it myself, but I didn't want to have alotta cash into the bike. The 15 inch wheel really fills out the rear wheel well area, and will barely add a half inch of ride height.

Another thing that's a big deal is to get the upgraded fenders for your bike. It makes it look modern as opposed to that ridiculous squared off-- 1991 front fender. Hope this helps. --L*64

Thanks for the advise. Your bike looks great. I will post the pics of Cyrus' bike before and after. He has a KLX 110 I am trying to get rid of. It just cost too much to get it race ready.

Re: KX 100 wheel swap with KX 85???

Just leave the 110 stock and have a good time on it. Do tires, and stiff springs.

My 100 is apart for now, but I'll have it together for winter time. I want to ride it at the indoor tracks. I got all the 85 parts I needed new off of EBay. --L*64
