| Ok here is a question about 85's
Here in Iowa there is crap for no places to ride MX that let pitters ride. I do have an OHV park that is about 400 acres to ride on though that is mostly trails. Here is the question. Take any 85 smoker. spring it for my weight. and possibly a 105 kit. How would you guys set it up for woods riding? I weigh in right at 200 lbs, on my way to 180. Remember last year I was riding a kx65 at the same place all summer so smoker is my fav for sure. Options flywheel weight? rekluse type auto clutch? exhaust? Wheel sizes? 17/14 or 19/16 Or should I just get a 125 and put a rekluse clutch on it with a flywheel weight? |

I'm no expert, but I would think a flywheel would be a great first mod. Also, bigger wheels will be more stable.

My Mood: | Re: Ok here is a question about 85's
85's arent too squirly. Small wheels either. For sure an flywheel weight for your first mod. Im not too firmirlar with the rekulse clutch so if somone can filll me in that would be cool. I rode trails on my 85 all the time and the flywheel was bone stock, no weight, it worked fine for me, but if your not used to it or heavier then yeah. V force reeds are a must though.

rekluse is an auto-clutch for the big bikes. But still retains a clutch lever if needed. high end stuff a lot of GNCC riders use one. Just found out they don't make one for the 85's only the 125's and up. So how is this used 85 with 105kit I think I want to stick with the 17x14 as I like the feel of this size. FWW for lugging respring forks and shock to weight with possible revalve barkbusters v-force reeds Bigger footpegs. longer shifter so my boots fit. and RIDE. Would be a sweet ride for under $2k if you get a used bike to start with. Then if rekluse would make an auto clutch for it that would add about $700 OR just respring a crf150r? hmmm |

Get a kx100 bad ass bike. Any reason you dont want to get a 125 or 250, your 200 pounds thats hell on a 85 clutch.

^^^ +1 on the KX100. I'd get that, or a KX85, and put the 100cc top end on it. The new style fenders are a must too. I know y'all have seen the KX100 project I'm working with. I want the bike to be like a pit bike. I don't really want to ride real bikes like a 125 at my age (40). --L*64

yep I don't want big wheel. I am thinking knarly woods riding. I guess I could just get a used ktm 200 and get a 19/16 setup for it. And a rekluse. PRobably end up getting nothing as usual since money is a sore subject.
