OP - what paper work did you end up taking to the dmv? I am trying to get my '72 plated and the girl at the dmv insisted that 50cc is not powerful enough for a street legal bike, so I calmly said it is a good thing that there are laws and it is not up to her opinion. Anyway I am going to try another dmv and hoping there is some magic form I am missing to make this a much smoother process.

I just called a local shop and they can only do verification if the bike is currently in the dmv system. They told me I still need to go to dmv / chp for verification before they can help.

Anyone know how hard it is to get a bike plated if it is in the dmv system as off road only?

Here was a member sharing his experience getting a plate on a soft-tail z50 in cali earlier this year.....
