    19 tooth front sprocket?

    Hey all,

Does anyone on here know where to get a suitable 19 tooth front sprocket? I'm running 18-28 on my Monkey-R at present, but it still revs out. The engine is a honda nice based 175cc. I can't go smaller at the back with the original rear hub (which I want to keep), and I already had to take some material away to fit the 28. The 18t front sprocket I'm running now was plug and play, and it looks like I would only have to take very little material away to fit a 19t one. If I can find one, I've been looking for a while know, with no succes.

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Godfried

    Dries,

Have one made. If you don't have a shop overseas that will make you one, sprocket specialists here in the USA will probably be able to make one in steel. I've never seen a 19T front, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

    Hey Dan,

It's hard to find a shop that will and can make you custom parts like these over here in Belgium mate. It seems like all good craftsmen have migrated to either the US or the UK .

I'll keep my eyes open, if I can't find anything, I'll get back to you for some good places overseas. It might be a good idea to have a few made, and sell some on...

    cheers,

    Dries

I'm sure Sprocket Specialists can make one. If you can't dig anything up, drop me a note.

Doesn't the Nice come with the 4.059 primary drive, like a 50? Can it be easily swapped to the 3.77, giving slightly taller gearing yet? I bet you could get something done along those lines.

Otherwise, a decent CNC or EDM shop should be able to whip one up.

I should be sorted, an English guy I know is having a batch made. I'll update once I get the sprocket in, should be in a couple of weeks.

Looks like dan doesn't run a 19T, he was just suggesting a company for custom sprockets. If anyone does have a 19T post a pic with the chain on. I would like to see the fitment on the bike. Maybe somebody could post a pic of an 18T to see how much extra room there is. I only have a 17T. Thanks.

these sprockets are being made for honda nice motors which an 18 tooth is a straight fit and only need a slight bit of removal where the gear selector plug fits for the 19 tooth dont think they made yet but wont be long as i got my name on one

    i'm currently running 17 / 29 & 10" wheels

what wheels do you have on your Monkey R Godfried ,,, 12" ?

i put 18t on, and the bike became a slug in my opinion

with the 17t the front wheel will lift at 45-50mph with a touch of the throttle

with 18t either a slip of the clutch lever or rider weight transfer brings the wheel up at that speed

when riding in traffic, in town, with the 18t, selection of the gear is vital! trying to pull off in second with that higher sprocket ratio's can lead to some serious vibrations/harmonics

suppose its rider preference and depending on where you use it (road wise)

Not sure if it does Terry,

the 4.059 gear as you say is Honda 50

the 3.77 gear,,,,,, is it the same as takegawa's supeclutch basket ?

with the Trx i mentioned before, i attempted to fit the takgawa crank mounted gear ,No Go , the trx has Honda 50 gearing ,

soon comes a custom crank gear based on takegawa's with 17t instead of 18t matching the trx/nice type basket which has 69t on the primary if i remember right as opposed to 66t on the Tak

i'll post a pic when i get it

I'd like taller primary gearing. Curious can the Z50R 17/69 primary gears be swapped for the XR70R 18/67 primary gears?

Yep, but you have to swap the clutch, or at least part of it, too.

Cool, so as long as you have the 18T outer gear too you're good to go...

^^^ I dont doubt him... just couldn't confirm

The question/reply i was trying to put across to terry is,

the takegawa clutch's have now been retro-fitted to the nice which the change's the ratios to the said "tak higher ratio "

    is it 3.77 ,,,i dont know ?

    as the tak secondary has

18t on the crank and 67t on the primary

the original honda 50 primary/ trx90 secondary and nice110 secondary

    17t and 69t

thus the trx90 motor me and terry talked about,

the clutch basket happens to be similar to a honda nice basket bar 4 plates instead of 5 on the nice ,also uses the same pressure plate, same primary gear ,fits with a nut not a circlip ,etc

    Re: 19 tooth front sprocket?

After messing around with my gear ratios, I'm starting to worry that 18/29 may not be tall enough for my Nice engine combination. It will be a 142+r but will be 54 bore and 61.5 stroke and running the s12 camshaft...so I'm going to produce all torque and power before 10k. That said, I want to be running 9mph for every 1000 rpm or so. That way at 6k I can run 54mph and 63mph at 7k. I'm 5mph of this goal at 18/29 gearing.

    Re: 19 tooth front sprocket?

Not having the rest here, I can't tell what may work, but the crank appears an easy interchange with a Lifan 59mm or YX 60mm, with lesser offset pins or added stroke. It's hard to tell, but is the Nice primary drive gear just clamped in place by the sling torque? May allow hiding behind a Tak clutch cover? There's a couple floating around the FPM shop.

I'm going to count teeth on an Xtreme basket (looks to mount same as Nice).

I know they give up the springs, but a swap to a set of Honda CRF rubbers should cushion the blow. I have one apart already.

Just buying the whole Tak setup should "taller-up" the gearing, but add a lot of money to the build.
