I don't think they're much different. They may have valves on the caps to release built up air pressure. They wouldn't be a huge upgrade. I'd grab something with a disc brake if I were going to bother at all with it. --L*64

The CR80 forks are longer and larger diameter than the XR80/100. You'll have to swap out the lower bearing on the stem from the XR to the CR stem, no you can't use the XR tripples on the CR forks. I'd recommend you get an taper bearing kit as the loose balls and races are a pain in the a$$.

The CR forks will take more weight and rebound nicely compared to the XR's, but yeah, they're quite a bit longer. CR80R forks are charged, or are meant to run pressurized with air (or nitrogen if you're stinkin' rich). If you're lucky your donor will come with the front wheel. If so, you'll also note that the front drum brake is larger, you'll need a 1980-1984 CR80 brake cable (got mine last year from Motion Pro).

The only year CR80R with disc brake that's a bolt on is 1986, a one year only deal that didn't have the best suspension.

    1998 XR100R with 1984 CR80R front end.

BBR's heavy duty spring set and proper fork oil vs. ATF might be a lot less trouble than the CR forks, tripples.

If you go with the CR forks, then you'll want to level out the rear and more power, better exhaust, bigger rear shock... it gets to be a disease...
