    Re: klx 140 project

yea, i havent done anything to the rear yet, i was going to do the kx 85 shock and flip the linkage, but my wife is short and on her toes now, maybe when she gets more comfortable ill mod the rear.

my other thought was swap my younger boys kx 85 wheels and then do the rear, proubly end up the same height with better trave. but he wont be ready for the big wheel till next year.....

guess ill just go back to playing with my bike for a while!

Haha! Looks pretty good Bud! Are those the forks I set you up with? If you want-- follow up with Chris at PR2 Racing. They have a super sweet Fox Podium shock with a custom linkage halfway done for the 140. They were working on it for me a couple of months ago. I was there at the shop, so I held it in my very hands-- it's awesome! If you stay on them, they may get it done for you. --L*64

Admittedly, exclusive KLX140 parts are difficult to find. Follow wolfwolf5's fine example and look for a KX (or CRF150r) fork. Other KX parts are adaptable as well. Certain KLX140 "L" parts will fit--swingarm, shock, for example.

Keep it Roostin (NC) has good selection and good prices. I found Crf150r fork parts for my KLX140 there. C2P suspension (also in NC) will make you a custom shock. Regina or DID for chains. Sprocket Specialists for rear sprockets (up to 70t!).

BBR is expanding their 140 product line--we have their D-2 exhaust, HD Shock Spring (the "for L model only" fork springs do fit and shock springs need only a BBR supplied collar to work), 26mm carb/throttle (really smooth). I'm waiting for a rev box and custom linkage (flipping the stock linkage to gain height may create geometry difficulties). They also have a 160cc bore kit. ProCycle in Oregon has wheels (need "L" swinger) and other supermoto parts.

Other "universal" parts are available: AVS folding levers, Acerbis plastics, etc. Keep reading PM posts for innovative ideas.

Showtime-- Yes, the hubs are identical in both those bikes.

I was just at the dealer tonight and saw new 140's for $1999. A great price, but until somebody makes a long travel shock for the bike-- I'm not getting one. --L*64

    Re: klx 140 project

BTW-- One thing that I was halfway thinking about... I was thinking of sending the stock 140L shock out to Feal Suspension to get set up for my weight, then sending out the KX85 forks I have sitting around out to get shortened by two inches-- making them a match height/travel wise for the 140L rear shock. Then lacing 12/14 inch rims to the stock hubs, and running a KX65 front fender. It would be easier and cheaper to do that than to build up a 110. Seems like a pretty good idea to me. Anyone else think so? I've seen a 12/14 inch wheeled, 110 powered KX100, and it looked pretty cool! --L*64

What mods did you have to do to get the kx100 front to fit ?

also is that a stock 140 wheel or is that a kx100 complete front end ?

    cheers
