    KLX140L 180cc kit HELP

Looking to find a bore kit for my 140. BBR and EO both make quality 160cc kits, but I don't feel like paying up $700+ for a measly 16cc increase, plus the supporting mods to make it run right. Kawahara makes an actual BIG bore kit (180cc) that is a true bolt on kit with everything down to the gaskets. This kit is $400, plus $300 for a ported head with bigger valves for around $300. Problem is the company is based in Thailand and they don't ship stateside. I hear rave reviews by people who run these kits and say they are way more bang for the buck than the 160cc kits, but never tell how they got the kits here. Anybody know how to get these kits into the USA?

Some quotes you could expect to hear, or that I may have heard...

    "That things runs GREAT!"
"What'd you do to this thing!?!"
"No way that b!tch is stock!"
    "He gone!"
    "What'd you do, install a 290 kit?"

Our source says: Go with the bore kit, and head.

NO WAY!! But I have 2 sources that have been running that kit for the past year [minus the rev box. They each bought 1, but just never used them]. They've had good luck with them. One of them just tore their bike down after putting about 30hrs on it, to throw in a fresh piston before a series starts, and everything still looked pretty good. My source said he would recommend it.

30hours? That's actually not that bad. Any way it's possible to rig an oil cooler to these bikes? Thinking that'd help the reliability factor

Yeah, definitely could have gotten more out of it too. The piston had hardly any wear on it. I haven't seen an oil cooler for it, and not sure if or how you could rig one up, but I don't think it would be necessary. Even in the 100° temps I've raced/ridden this bike in, I haven't had anything happen that would indicate it was over heating.

I have the 180 kit in my klx140l also! Been running great all summer so far also running a head all done up by StorminNorman! I'm also running the PWK 28mm, cam and lighted flywheel. I put the kx85 forks on it and used the klx140l rear shock just had it revalved and sprung cuz it's pretty much the same shock as the kx85 just a little longer and a 1/2 inch shorter reservoir all the internals are the same.
