Do u mean get a stiff spring for the stock shock, or mean switch the spring with out removing the shock?

You can get # of different springs for the stock shock, I would personally go with the BBR unit. As for being able to not remove the shock you will need to remove it but it is a pretty simple job.

Usually the BBR springs come with directions, I cant really give you advice cuz I haven't ever installed one on that particular bike. But if you have lost your directions call bbr and they can send you new ones by mail or email.

You Have To Compress The Spring Down ( You Will Need A Spring Compresor) To Remove The Retaining Clip. Then Off She Comes. Be Carful Putting The New One On. It Can Be Dangerous. It Was A Lot Easyier Buying The Works Shock And A Better Ride Too.

In 04' when they changed to the crf vs. the xr they changed the shock. The spring retainer is welded in so you cant remove the spring. Not sure if they changed back in 05'-06'. But it is a whole different shock that they started using in 04' then from previous years. Take a pic and post it up. I would return the bbr and spend a few more hundred and get the works shock. Much better dampning.
