Want to buy 110 or 125 for 11 yr old boy. What model and where to buy?

Hi folks,



I'm considering getting a 110 or 125 pit bike for 11 year old son as a first dirt bike. This is just for riding around trails in the woods and stuff. I know their quality might not be up to the jap bikes, but even the used jap bikes I see on CL are out of my price range right now.



Can you recommend some reputable retailers and models I should be looking at?



My son is 11 years old and a lanky 5 feet tall and 95 pounds.

Pitster Pro is pretty good but might not be in your price range

you can get a good used KLX110 for a small amount of money and you'll save a ton in that it won't need you fixing it all the time. Especially if you are on a budget...get one you can just put gas in and go. Stick with a KLX110.

MXR110r if he is ready to race 65cc class, or MXe 119 if he is also wanting to race 65cc class but is a beginner as the MXe is alot tammer, My son has has raced and ridden his MXe all year and has had zero mechanical failures and it will still walk all over the TTR, and KLX 110s in stock trim.

The MXR110R has a serious 110cc engine .

CFL Look hard at the Pitsters. The 125 motor we put in my sons X2 was really a great motor for cruising trails and lugging around...that and he won a State Supermoto Championship with the same motor, placed 4th in a National. Great little bike and motor combo.

That's what I was going to suggest but jared808 beat me to it. Don't be put off by the asking price, CL sellers ask high prices because the ads are free and they think they have nothing to lose by asking ridiculous prices.

Get him a fixer upper so you and he can wrench on it.

You could find a nice klx110 for around $750, and they are very quiet if neighbors might be a problem, Otherwise get a pitster or medina.
