I recently built up a CT70 with a new YX160 motor and have had issues getting it running. I bought (2) cheap carbs (first mistake). One was a 30 mm that I could get running a bit, but it was very choppy in low to mid range. I then put on a Mikuni (knock off I think) 22mm carb that idle's real well, but that's about it. I don't have any jets for them either.
I recently purchased the 26mm Mikuni carb (genuine) with (4) jet sizes. Can some one give me a idea on what jet I should start using first for hopes of a turn key operation to get this thing running? I have a 195 (stock), 155, 165, and 175.
Also I am having issues with the electrical charging the battery during operation. A past post told me to switch the two yellow wires around, can someone give me details on the switching of the yellow wires? I know for a fact that it is trying to charge (14-14.5v), but when running with the lights on, using signals, brake lights and horn it will drain the battery quick even when riding around.
My battery is cheap and it's not sealed. Could be another issue, any suggestions on a decent sealed battery that I won't have to sell the kitchen sink to get?
I had good success with the mikuni running a 22.5 pilot and a 165 main...... clip in the middle.
The charging system sounds ok if it is giving you 14 volts at mid throttle. I would check the battery using a volt meter to see if it seems to be draining while hooked up on the bike and then unhooked.
I am not sure yet. I was just going to see about getting a few to have on hand, when I dig into more of the trouble shooting this weekend. I'll keep you posted. I appreciate all your help.
