Keihin PE26 going on a Piranha 140cc need jetting help!!!!
So i recently bought a carb off a kx100 for my wires piranha trl 140cc. I went with this carb because my bike takes the same jets and figured it would be best for hers and mine to be the same. Anyways the carb is from a kx100 2 stroke and I'm sure the jetting will be no where close to what i need for her 140 motor. Can you guys give me a idea on a pilot and main jet for this application? I pm'ed Tbolt in regards to picking up a jet kit but I'm not sure if they sell jet kits for the Keihin's or not? Any help on the jetting to get this pe26mm running properly on her piranha 140 would be greatly appreciated.

Most 2 stroke carbs wont work properly on a 4 stroke due to the cut on the slide. A 2 stroke has a steep angle cut on the back VS a4 stroke dont have hardly any angle cut.
-
^exactly I bought a Pwk for my 160 and I could never get it jetted right, that's why I bought a PE.
Sometimes I go fast, but most of the time I just think about it.
-
Run CR85 carbs on both my 124s. Jet needle change and they're both sweet as a nut.
-
I got it figured out i think. I ordered a new needle, main and pilot jet from sudco today and also the emulsion tube that has hole in it like the 4 stroke carbs have. The slide is the same as my pe28. Should work really well
-
What do you think the jetting should be? I ordered a 100, 105, 110, 115 main jet and ordered a 35 and 40 pilot jet.
-
I hope you took notice of this when you ordered all those jets from SUDCO...
-
No he told me i should buy from one of there distributors but along as i made the $25 minimum i could buy direct from them. Total for the jets i orderer and stuff was 28 dollars
-
ANyone with a 140cc that could tell me what pilot and main they are running??? My 184 has a 110 main and 40 pilot so i figured a 35 pilot and 100 main would be close for the 140cc. Sudco told me i might actually need to run larger jets in the smaller motor because it doesn't have the compression to suck the full as much so you run larger jets to get the fuel?
-
Sorry, But compression dosent do the sucking through the carb. Has no effect on that! Post a picture of the back of the slide. Also if it was sucking less it would need less fuel. I think you will need close to a 125 main jet but who knows.

The slide looks identical to the slide i run in my pe28 on my 184cc. There is no cutout like people are talking about? So you think i need a bigger main jet on a stock 140cc then i run on my high compression 184? My 184 has a 110 main and 40 pilot.

Thanks for your help geezer!!!!!!!!!!
-
have you tried it? what dose it do? How dose it run?
-
GEEZER i am throwing it on tomorrow hopefully and trying it out. I replaced ALL internal parts including the needle and emulsifion tube. So I'm hoping it should work well??? The only thing i didn't change was the slide but it looks the same as my pe 28. The only concern i have is the little brass piece in the middle of the carb where the needle drops down through into the emulsion tube has a cutaway toward the motor? My pe 28 it is a complete circle so I'm not sure if this will make a difference or not. If you pull the slide up and look through the bore of the carb at the bottom you will see a little brass piece sticking up about a 1/8 inch and is about as round as a M&M candy. The 26 is cutaway on the backside but my 28 isn't? I have my fingers crossed this doesn't effect anything because i don't believe it can be replaced. It is pressed in i think, i will report back with my findings!

well? how did it all work out? Im no bike tech, so cant back up my talk with experience on bikes. but... the reason you might need bigger jets is not due to the compression being higher. its due to the higher CC of the 184 engine. with every pull down of the piston, there is more area inside the engine to fill with air, thus, more air draws through the carb. the air drawing through the carb is what pulls the fuel through the carb also. more air through the same meter(carb) equals stronger pull. make sense?
but I am curious to see what you have tried, and what worked.
please help me figure out what my bik is. verfied not a piranha, not an coolster either. its an 05 model frame, but thats all I can figure out from the vin.
the engine is a 140cc piranha xy engine. has alum. wheels, bars, triple clamps, gripper seat, pro taper grip (

) asv levers. single adj. forks. cheapo air shock.
