recently purchased one of these anima 150s and just couldn't help to tear into it. here are some pics for you other builders that have been pondering on the engine

recently purchased one of these anima 150s and just couldn't help to tear into it. here are some pics for you other builders that have been pondering on the engine
anima primary on bottom yx on top
stud pattern difference
squirt
dyno of the 150
intake valve job
full view of intake valves
not thrilled w/ factory valve cut location
exhaust valves
exhaust seating width and location isn't all too too bad
exhaust seat cuts
valve springs and retainers, retainers are steel
cam and rocker arms
i thought this was neat. daytona knocked 4 holes in cam sprocket 2 holes for the moron proof cam timing and 2 slotted for the engine builders that like to degree their engine
exhaust port
super easy to access and work on valve train
intake port, def room for improvement
So ...... overall opinion of this new engine ?? Rating out of 10 ???
ka-Pow! Thanks for sharing. Whats the weight on that thing? My YX is heavy, the pics of the anima give me a "boat anchor" vibe.
LOOKS like a Honda Wave stud spaceing. Get a bigger crank and a 150R piston and you have a 190. IM guessing piston pin height is 14mm?
How is the engagement in the gearbox? have never had any problems with the teeth, but the gears doesn't engage enough and slip
Thanks for the pics, lovin the sticker!
Truly, first normal inside overall look. Thanks! I look forward to How-to's to finalize the D4V engine.
Why did you take a new motor apart? Do you make parts for this motor? Or are you a speed shop, and you port, grind cams, and so on?
my overall opinion is it has alot of potential but it is still a ching engine and shows all the tale tale signs of china, time will tell if my suspsions on certain things will become a reality or just over worring. casting and machineing isn't as nice as you would see on the jdm stuff. but for what you pay vs what you get i think its best china setup by far. i'm not going to give it a rating until i have beat on it a while.
haven't messed w/ many waves so i'd be lying if i said it was the same spacing. with daytonas bigger stroke crank and 150r piston it will put you over 190cc. anima 150 is 62mm x 49.5mm = 149.44mm crf 150R 66mm x 43.7mm= 149.51cc utilizing the anima's 49.5mm stroke w/ the 150r piston putting bore and stroke at 66 x 49.5= 169.35cc. i havent checked to see what daytona 190 stroke is but i'm going to guess prolly 62-62.7 which would put cc in the ball park of 213~214 w/ 150R piston.
wrist pin is 14mm comp height is 20mm or for the pitbike community 13mm
why not take a new engine apart? i guess you'd call me a half ass speed shop. i don't advertise or do it full time but in my spare time i build engines for guys and race teams. i have had alot of guys ask me whe i could do w/ this engine. and until now i have not been able to give an honest answer cause i haven't been into one. so to answer your orginal question i tore apart to see what i'm working w/
I believe he is asking about the dogs on the gears. Older China stuff didn't have enough back cut or IMO the gear and dog were too soft. The dogs would round off and cause it to pop out of gear, or not engage at all.
Ahh, I see. Well knowing is half the battle !
Vertex also do a 72mm piston. With the 62mm stroke it would be just over 250cc. What is the OD of the stock sleeve?
