What bike is the tank from? Newer CRF/KLX-style or older Z50 style?

I have a TrailBikes aftermarket tank like this one, I can get an OD measurement of the threaded pipe on the tank for you tomorrow sometime, if it'll be any help.

Without any information in that eBay ad with regards to the ID of the locknut, I'd be leery of buying it. Do you have the means to measure the threaded pipe on your tank, like digital vernier calipers and possibly a metric thread gauge set? If you knew the size metrically, you could ask the eBay Seller to measure it and let you know.

i dont have a metric size gauge set at home however i took the broken petcock to orchard supply to try to find out the thread pitch of the nut on the petcock and it seems to fit perfectly on 5/8-18... tried m14 and m16 and they didnt fit... there wasn't a m15 bolt to try so im not sure... i have a caliper that i measure the ID of the nut on the petcock to be ~14.6mm

the pipe on my tank is measured 16mm, but i'm not sure the thread pitch...

however i found this 16mmx1.5 fuel tap on ebay
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Switch-...pVeu9n&vxp=mtr

and according to this size chart

    http://www.custompartnet.com/tap-size-chart

5/8-18 is very close to m16x1.5, that might explain why it fitted well when i brought the petcock to the gauge set at orchard supply?

I measured the tank here and the petcock outlet pipe is 15.86mm OD, and has a 1.5 thread pitch.
