    Mikunis....whats real and whats fake?

I am finally going to bite the bullet and get a Mikuni vm-26 for a 140cc. Even the ones that claim they are real have wide spreads in price.

I see 2 different kinds of chokes on the ones that claim they are real. One push pull Style and one lever style. Both call them vm26's.

I appreciate being set straight as to which one I need. I assume I will have to buy a flange mount or lop off the flange and go with a short tube to run these.

Here's the two I am looking at. Motor is stock but has exhaust.

    Lever style.

    Those definitely aren't fake!

    On a more serious note....

Is the fake one the lever style or is that just a different model of mikuni vm26?

The lever style is not a genuine Mikuni VM26-606.

The first link looks like the real deal, even has a sudco sticker on the float bowl.

Not sure what intake you have currently but you will need one with a spigot mount. Here are the specs for the VM series...

Both look genuine at a glance , however may be a waste of money because of the carb slide being not appropriate for these lil 4 strokes
    slides cost like $60
the units we offer have the correct slide ...

I don't know Mikuni carbs at all but ran into a situation with some Keihin carbs recently. Both of the carbs had "Keihin" on them but turns out that they were Officially Licensed Chinese made carbs designed for the Asian markets and not Keihin Japan made carbs. The Chinese made "Keihin" Carbs would not accept Keihin slow jets available in the US market. You may want to ask the seller if they are Mikuni Japan made carbs or Chinese made Mikuni carbs? Mine came in boxes that said made in China.

What makes the slide not being appropriate for the smaller engines?
I don't know anything about them. Is it the way the throttle cable Connect's to it?

I have the carb that came with the engine from tbolt. It has a bolt on flange to the intake with Like a 48mm bolt pattern.

Our carbs TBW0399 carb comes with a small amount of cutaway so its richer right of the bottom
2 stroke carbs have bigger cutaway so they are leaner off the bottom
Its similar to why bigger carbs like on a YZ250F had an accelerator pump (pumper carbs)

Thanks T bolt. I'll need to save a bit and get the one from you. I'm tired of dealing with this.
