sounds like a big tranny problem. has he rode it hard dry shifted or powershifted alot? ive owned my lifan and had no problems yet.. but if my tranny fails me im forsure getting the GPX bottem end and keeping my lifan head. ur bro could have worn the plates out or bend the shifting forks. take off your clutch cover and inspect is what i would do.

When you say would not go into gear, exactly what do you mean? Are you not able to move the shifter up and down or does it go in gear but not move when you let the clutch out?

I will check the shift fork. He says that he puts it in gear and he hears a click and nothing. He says the shifter moves the same as always. What does the shift fork look like???

without it running, prop up the back wheel and move it back and forth to try and get it to rachet into gear. if it feels like it clicked into gear and you feel a little more resistance then maybe it is the clutch.

start it up with the wheel prop'ed up without a load while running if it rotates at all its in gear, but the clutch is the problem.

in the pic the fork is number 1
