I think he is trying to tell you to stick with your stock one.
terry would know for 1. Also in my personal opinion they make no difference. On a stock 50 you may noticed a little power gain as even putting more air in your tires makes them feel like they are going faster.
i gained 5hp from my own custom made cdi

i have the same bore kit and found out that the bbr sucks iv blown 2 of them and now i have a amr off of ebay and it works great i recomend it
doesnt bbr team bikes have the AMRs? i have the takky hyper on my stocker. it was free, so i said why not lol. on a bone stock bike it rev a little faster, but not that noticeable.. on an 88 it would probly make a bigger dif. than on my stocker. but if i were you, id look into a lightened flywheel. that would be a better upgrade.. more money, but worth it.
also, idk if this happens on 50s, but my buddy put a full tokyo mods cdi, tuneable whatever on his crf250 and he couldnt keep the motor together. every week or so he'd blow it up. finally everything from the crank up went because the piston broke.. and he was running stock/stock replacement cylinders and wiseco pistons with a hotcam i believe.
I have experimented with cdi boxes and found there to be no noticeable difference other than the chance of falling increase when using an aftermarket one. Stick to stock or if you really want to get one get a takegawa hyper cdi.
ps was testing on a tak 106 with a vapor computer
theres is a thread with dyno charts of all the cdi boxes and the difference was so small that Ricky Carmichael himself wouldnt be able to notice....
Save your money and keep the stock one, there is no difference.
If you think your buddies is faster because of his CDI, pull his cdi out and swap it with yours and I gaurantee his bike will still be faster
LOL save your money we use a dyno jet no noticeable difference with a after martket rev box.
Get a race head instead
