How is everyone doing this? Crf50 10" hoops with RAD hubs and STR brake adapter kit... what about spokes? Anything else I'm missing?
This is a discussion on 10" kx65 wheels within the CRF50 forums, part of the General Talk category; How is everyone doing this? Crf50 10" hoops with RAD hubs and STR brake adapter kit... what about spokes? Anything else I'm missing?...

Gary @ STR has done it about a million times so farOriginally Posted by brainer23

Rad Mfg Eagle hubs are 28 hole spokes,, the rear rim is a CRF50 28 hole 10" rim the front rim is a KX65 28 hole 12" rim (Rear for the front), the spokes are shorter which rad mfg will make you these spokes and also will build the complete front and rear wheel. All you have to do is call Rad Mfg and tell them you want a KX65 eagle hub complete wheel with 10" rear and 12" front rim laced and trued and they will do it.
Try posting str questions in his vendor forum section, he probably gets a ton of pm's daily... Just an idea, probably a lot easier to answer a lot of questions in his forum, idk.
Wow thank you... around how much is this gonna cost me? And then once I get that done I buy your brake adapter and can run kx65 brakes right?

note: you can also use the KX65 OEM hubs with the same 10" and 12" rims with Special Cut spokes from Buchanan ,, might be cheaper,, ask Pax Racing if he could get you the spokes and rims cause he has paid for the R&D to making the special spokes that Buchanan gives him a special part number for them. The rad wheels the way ours are set up are really expensive due to having the Excel rims and laced and trued with aluminum anodized nipples.
$749.90 with the normal spokes and Rad Rims
if you want them laced and trued: + $30 per wheel
If you want Excel black rims instead of the Rad Rims: +$75 per rim
If you want Billet anodized nipples: + $30 per wheel
and I can save you 15% on any combination you go with. Shipping is around $35 within united states (4![]()
Noob question but what does it mean to lace and true a wheel? Put spoked on and make it straight?
Wow looks like im gonna be spending a lot more money on this build. I will be calling you sometime next month.
If you want a 12/14 setup I might sell you my spares
KX65 hubs with good bearings, pc'd red with hd spokes and rims, front STR Galfer Wave rotor, Brand new Dunlop 756's
Have not run them since I bought them, rear wheel could use a little truing, has a slight hop, not bent
I have a lot more pictures if you are interested
$440 shipped, anything less and I would lose money. I'd rather keep for spares than lose on them.

I hear you, yeah I re read your thread and realized you def dont want 12/14. Hey Gary, erase your quote of my picture so his thread isn't all junked up with a bigazz pic.
thanks, but wait what does lace and truing a wheel mean? Im a noob with bikes haha
putting in the spokes and balancing the wheel.

When you true a wheel you tweak the nipples that hold the spokes either higher or lower on the threads by screwing them in or out to cure wobble (left to right) or hop (up and down) Me and my spoke wrench are not good at it, but hopefully that clears it up a little for you.
