TAKEGAWA or not?
While browsing the web yesterday i found one interesting engine for sale and would like to buy it.
Seller says, that it is Takegawa 124+R crate engine, which means it should have Takegawa cases aswell, but he tells that there is no Takegawa sign on cases.
I post some pictures here and maybe You can say by that if these are or are not Takegawa cases. Also the countershaft doesnt look like standard Honda ones look like.

Takegawa has hd cases, but they used to just use oem cases for their crate motors i believe. Minimob has alot of their crate motors listed, they cost alot but im sure they are worth it.
-
I'm gonna go ahead and say no, it is not a complete factory crate motor due to the stock looking output shaft.... unless it has been appart and replace with stock components...
-
He said that it has Takegawa 3 speed CR transmission.
If i compared stock Honda cases and those which should be Takegawa cases, i found difference.
-
I dont think it is a Takegawa transmission. I dont think takegawa uses a stock trans splin count on there aftermarket trans. I have a Takegawa 5 speed in mine and it uses the larger China style shaft with fewer teeth. Only way to know is to ask someone else who has the 3 speed.. But looks like a stock trans to me...
-
Its weird that it has no marks or letters on cases.
-
do the seller live in sweden? could be a yx bottom end.
-
I had a takegawa 3-speed and it had the stock style splines, i think the 3-speed uses the stock output shaft and changes the input and gears, so if its a 3speed with takegawa special clutch, it COULD be the take trans.

Do he say the engine is ok? as i know it need new piston, valves and maybe crank, he could have replaced the crank
-
He told me that it needs new valves and piston. He also said that it has new Daytona crank.
-
Dont think its takegawa agin then. Takegawa uses a 50mm crank for there 115cc setup and a 54mm crank for there 124. Does Daytona make a 54mm crank..
-
He wrote me that it has Daytona 54mm crankshaft (new).
-
dont fortget that the cylinder/head could be bad also if the valves smashed the piston. Other than that its probably a good engine. But im not sure if its worth it, when you have to buy that many parts and you dont know how the other parts is.
-
I think i will pass this deal. Will save money for another z50. There are too many unanswered questions and it all might turn into a big headache. Great thanks for all answers!

The Taky and Kitaco CRF50 3 speed close ratios run standard CRF50 spline, 4 5 6 speeds use Monkey spline which the Chinese adopted. Trans shaft and gears will be laser etched with part numbers and/or logo. Not sure why this guy bothered to assemble without the countershaft seal. Takegawa cases (old and new) are serial numbered. Head looks genuine, clutch cover as well. Daytona 54mm cranks are prone to failure.

I think they did on the 125. My pitster RS125 is suppose to be the same thing. The con rod says "Made in Japan" 54X54 Just going by what i was told but that wat the rod says.
