    fox float mxr hitting frame

Well the problems keep coming!!. Just received my Fox float in the mail. Trying to install it and the shock is riding against the frame. I've installed the shims correctly and tried to change the position of the shock every which way. Still the middle of the shock is riding against the frame. Even tried to flip the shock upside down but the air pressure port hits the upper shock mount. The bike is a new 2016 only ridden once so I know nothing is bent. Has anyone every run into this? Trying to finish this thing up so I go have some fun with it. Part number of the shock is 997-23-004.

I have had zero issues with mine (ordered 3 years ago). I mounted mine with the fat part of shock towards the top, I now have a +2 sano frame with no problems also.

Call fox, they are good for sending the wrong spacers and shims.

If it's a stock frame I could see it. My stock frame has a little bit of room to clear the float. Like there's a shock cover on it and the Velcro has to be pulled pretty hard to get through. I'd say try to spread the frame a little with a jack or something just to get enough clearance for it. Either way good luck, I don't think it's a spacer issue.

I have read that 2011 and newer the frames are tighter and like elixur said you have to spread the frame....

Very possible, the stock frame I had mine on was a 2003.

On a new 2017,never ridden yet, just installed the exact fox shock and it fits fine with this large part of shock bolted to the frame, with the air valve on the top left under the seat.
