    Billetware with Piranah 150 issues

Im starting on a crf50 build with a Billetware cradle frame and I'm having an issue. There is 1/2" gap between the foot peg/cradle mount and the engine. Is there something I'm missing here? I bought the frame used so it didn't come with a hardware kit.

Do u not have ur foot peg bracket in there? ˝" gap is huge there shouldn't be that big of a gap. I want to say on mine my skid plate was below the cradle.

My foot peg bracket is sitting in the groves of the cradle mount. Let me do a search on how to add a picture and I will post it.

If you were to undo and remove the top engine mounting bolt, do you think the four bottom bolt holes would then line up with the cradle mount and footpeg bolts? If so, the cradle part of the frame may be slightly "sprung" open.

    Dirtbkr188,

I will check when I get home. However, yesterday when I was mounting the engine I didn't notice any bends in the cradle or chips in the powder coating. Could there be any adverse effects if I use some washers to fill that gap?

I was thinking more along the lines of installing the 4 footpeg bolts, then use a block of wood and a floor jack at the head of the engine to jack the engine back up high enough to reinstall the top engine mount bolt.

I don't think you'll get a good tightening of the footpeg bolts, due to the angle between the cradle and the engine bottom, the gap isn't the same all the way around.

So I mounted the engine to the foot pegs and cradle today. It looks as if the should be some spacer in there because the foot peg bracket hits the case. Not really to sure what's going on here. Can anybody running a billetware frame take some pictures for me of their cradle mount?

The Piranha engine is wider than the stock Honda engine, is the footpeg mount hitting the cases along the outside edges? You might need a straight footpeg mount, to clear the wider engine.

That's exactly where it's hitting. i guess I'm in the market for a new peg mount. It still doesn't address the top mount issue. I'm about 3/8" from the mount. There's no real way to on the engine without lifting the entire bike up. I was trying to use a tie down to strap the entire bike to the jack and then jack it up. That didn't work.

Okay, maybe using a ratchet strap under the head and over the frame hooked to itself will draw the engine up enough to install the top mount bolt. You might have to take the fuel tank off to center the strap over the engine.

Thanks! I'll try the ratchet strap. What's becoming a pain is constantly having to take the shock and swingarm off to get to the rear bolt of the engine. I'll order the new foot peg mount as well. I'll update once I get everything in. Thank you to everyone for their suggestions and help!

IMO, since the cradle will support the engine from underneath, there are two things you could consider doing with regards to the lower rear engine mounting bolt.

!. You could possibly remove it altogether, or

    2. weld a flange nut to the one side of the cradle and use a long allen head bolt and flat washer. I would think the allen head would clear the swingarm.
