Does anyone know where I can get more power out of my drz400sm? Im willing to bore it or what ever it takes. Got a good deal on the bike but it is doooog sllllooooow.
The 440 kits will wake them up but it will never be all that fast. If you are just looking for a bit more power then that is the way to go, if you are trying to keep with 450s on a motard track or the KTMs there is not much hope for that. The bike is also just way too heavy. I know someone that had some custom made Yoshimura titanium exhausts made for that bike and has one left. They weigh like 2 lbs for the whole system, maybe I am exagerating but I remember holding it up with one finger a while ago.
Im seriousy thinking of gettin the drz with gas prices. Be my first street bike. They look like alot of fun. Very good price as well. Need to start doing my homework on these

Kenny has one, I am surprised you never rode his Ryan, I know I have and it is a nice handling bike but just very heavy and underpowered compared to the 450s but then again it has a different purpose.
A guy a my shop has a drz400sm, he installed a high comperssion piston from wiseco and a set of hotcams, akrapovic exhaust and it really woke it up. The next mod is a flatslide carb from the dirt model.
There are a lot of free mods that wake the beast up and thumpertalk is your best bet for info. I know my 00 model was a sleeper until I opened up the airbox, silencer and rejetted made a huge difference and I still got 45 mpg out of it. An FCR carb would be sweet mod but very expensive, I know that the CV carb don't like landings off of big jump, choke, cough, underwear change!
