DR. ATV 110cc Kit VS BBR 110cc Kit - Share your opinions.

    All,

I want you to compare these two pictures very closely, and point out the major differences you see in the two pictures in regards to the following parts:

    Crank

    Head

    Cam

    Piston

    Cylinder

    Gasket set

I understand the BBR kit as pictured comes with the carb, intake, cable, cam cover etc. I want some objective opinions on if you can see any differences on the parts I have listed above.

    BBR:

    Dr. ATV:

Better shot of the Dr. ATV piston:

To add some additional insight, Dr. ATV is out of the 12V stroker cranks, or was a couple of weeks back. BBR, in January is swithing from a 52mm stroker to a 50mm stroker crank. Dr. ATV purchases their parts from Dragon Racing out of the Netherlands. Don't know where BBR sources their parts. Both are assumed to be of good quality.

This is for discussion only. I can't find any diffferences in the two kits other then a higher price by BBR. Discuss away.

From what I understand BBR used to use get the same 52mm crank as DR ATV for there 110 kit. But since DR ATV ran out BBR has decided to go with something else.

I am running the DR ATV 52mm crank with a trailbikes kit. Works just fine. I also have the DR ATV monster head and cam that I will eventually switch over to this winter. I do notice a little bit more vibration in the motor than my buddies motor with a 51mm Kitaco crank.

i have done 4 dr atv kits. 3 120cc, 1 110cc and a bbr 110cc kit .. the heads, cranks, and pistons, all seemed to me exactly the same. i came across a problem with the bbr carb, no matter what jetting i tried it all ways ran bad. i think it was just a bad carb, i replaced it with a trailbikes 24mm carb and it worked perfect the way it came in the box. sent the bbr carb back havent heard anything yet. another problem i came across with one of the 120cc kits , was with a trail bikes manual clutch , the motor had a bad vibration. what i found when i went to change my oil was a bunch of rubber and the oil wouldnt drain. the screen was clogged with rubber chunks. it came from the large gear in clutch cover, it has rubber dampners just like any clutch basket has. well they wore out, i drilled the rivets out of the gear tapped it for allen heads and stole some rubber dampners out of a stock 50 gear i had laying around . working fine and no more vibration.

They sell 24mm carbs as well. Not part of the kit.

Yea, if you go under the xr80 or xr100 sections on TrailBikes website he has 24mm carbs, and they will bolt right up to his race head intake fo r50 heads.

Z- I f i'm not mistaken, I think those BBR piston rings are made out of that real exotic material only found in the shuttle and toilet flapper valves.

    It's called UNOBTANIUM!!

That's gotta raise the price some.

I think Nino is right, and doesnt BBR also use that exotic variable timing cam that changes shape with RPM's for more power , thats gotta cost some ching.

But seriously, I think the kits are pretty much idenctical, with BBR I think you are simply paying for the name, as with most of their stuff, granted its normally sweet, but just incredibly over priced.
