It might work but it would be easier to put the 150 in it. Yx motors are horizontal honda are vertical. So the yx might be really tall and hit the gas tank.
Sometimes I go fast, but most of the time I just think about it.

If you look up the member on here that goes by the name of "stormin normin" he is a crazy good machinest/mechanic and he did a KLX110 motor I think it was modded to the hilt in a 150R frame

Now didnt he just use a yx top end on a xr bottom which is made for a vertical head. If he wants to just drop in a yx motor hes gonna have cut the down tube on the frame to fit. Unless he is going to angle that engine at 20* + to miss the frame and other things.

Yeah storminnorman used a vertical bottom end with an aftermarket klx 110 top end.
Doesn't pitster have a vertical 250 or something now? Throw that in there that'll be cool if done right.

From a guy that has been there done that I would suggest an alternative engine setup. If you have a fully equipped machine shop and looking for a challenge then it makes sense. But if you have to farm the work out your going to get killed on labor prices. My build was very complex in the engine department. Converting the R chassis to hold the xr cases was relatively easy. A fairly easy and fun route would be to shoe horn a crf150F engine in the 150R chassis.

I used an X motor built to R specs and retained the estart.
