Kickstarter won't return

I searched the forums with no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction to fixing my crf70 kickstarter that wont return? The bike starts and runs fine you just have to push the kickstarter back into place with your hand. Its a 2001 motor with a 108cc stroker kit if that matters at all. Thanks!

This is the only one i found kickstarter wont return on gpx125.... I do know that the kicker shaft has to be in just the right place for correct spring tension.

If it started all of a sudden you probably have a broken or loose return spring. If it started after a rebuild, you probably just need to take off the clutch cover and reassemble it right.

It started about 5 hours after a rebuild, am I going to have to split the cases?

Thanks for the picture. Is this it just with the clutch cover off? and will i have to drain the oil before i take it off?

Yes, that's with the clutch cover removed, and you will have to drain the oil out before removing it.
You will have a few other parts somewhat in the way, but you should be able to see most of the return spring behind the primary drive gear, as shown below on this engine.
