Is any one year better than the other? Is it a waste of money to start with a new bike, seeing that most parts will be chaged? Thank you for any input.

No, from 2000 til 2005 they're all the same.

If you buy new and build up get ready to spend a load of money on top of new price.

I would go with an already built used one for a lot less money.

A nicely hooked up used bike goes for between $2000-4000.

Just keep your eye on the for sale posts!

200-2004 the shift shaft are the same. They changed the shift shaft dia. in 2005-2006 models. Supposedly made it "beefier."

I had a 2004 that I built up, but I sold it to buy a 2006 to build up. Half the fun with minis to me is building them up. If you want one alreay done up, thats cool, but to me tricking them out is just as fun as riding them.
