    Budget Build - 2011 KLX110

It's been a few years, but I'm back. Been keeping an eye on craigslist for a good deal on a 2006 or better 110 and a couple days ago, the deal of a lifetime popped up and I somehow made it happen. Scored a 2011 KLX110 with probably 30 minutes on it. I've got a ton of plans for it and will keep this thread as a guide for anyone who picks up a second gen KLX110. This version is the 4 speed auto with electric start, which is okay with me. This will be ridden by myself and my girlfriend, but will be built for trails and having fun! I don't have full paychecks to throw at this, so it'll be a pretty slow/budget build, doing a little bit every few weeks or so. But I will try to do video tutorials or picture walk throughs as I do this stuff since I know how nice it is to have that when you're doing it yourself.

Here are some pictures(iPhone) and a youtube video showing off that awesome exhaust. I'll get some better pictures this weekend, when I'll be doing it's first oil change, swapping out footpeg bolts and possibly throwing a headlight on.

Also, one of the first things I'll be doing is ditching the stock airbox and opening up the stock exhaust. Does anyone have experience with carb adjustments/jets for the newer bikes or is it the same as the olds bikes? I assume opening up the stock exhaust should be the same, but I know there were some engine changes and figured it was worth looking into.

I don't know about the exhaust it is said to be different and make more power than the older bikes, so let us know if that is the case, does it have the washer in the head pipe?
What diameter is the head pipe and the rest of the pipe?
I do believe it is the same Carb still.

    Keep us posted

I'll take it all apart this week or weekend and see what I find. The carb is probably the same, but I'm asking more towards getting it dialed in right. I really hate how it bogs down when you give it a flick of the wrist, just can't ride it like that.

I recommend the 2bros adjustable needle that will clear up the bog and you we use it later for any other mods you do to the motor if you continue to run the stock Carb.

I forgot about those! Thanks, I'll get one ordered today. Will probably order the air filter kit/bracket as well.

Update time, I can't believe this bike sat most of the summer, what a bummer!

Anyways, I picked up a couple more 2006 110's via craigslist, but will be flipping those to raise a few bucks for parts on this 110. May also sell one to a buddy of mine so I actually have a friend to ride with. I have some plans for some trails/jumps across the river from my place and should be a fun place to ride.

As for the bike. Swapped peg bolts, though at some point I'll get a cradle and not worry about it. Ditched the stock air filter of death as well. I need to take of the jets at some point this winter, but I'll probably try and track down a yoshi and do a 143 kit and deal with it then. Headlight was purchased, but I haven't thrown in on yet. I don't really like the light, so I may just toss them and find something a little better. I picked up some pro taper bars which will be going on this weekend. New brake cable as well.

That's it for now. Hoping to do the exhaust if I can find a cheap used one, if not, may toy with the suspension a little and pick up one of those DNM shocks since I'm on a budget and all.

Nice man! I have the L version. So far I have done the bars and suspension on mine. I plan on doin the 143 kit, but I need to save for awhile before that will happen. If you decide to do the 143 kit it would be sweet if you did a how to vid! I have yet to find one on the newer klx's.

I think the motor on the L is different though. I dunno, it's confusing. But yeah, I'll probably do a video. I did a 134 kit on my old 110 and it was pretty easy. I still need to track down my old service manual though, that is a huge help.

Cool man. I know u need a different cam sprocket if u want to swap out the head. I think the trans is the only difference between the L model and the 110. Either way post up your progress. I have done tons of research on this but it will be my first top end build so I just wanna learn all I can. Good luck man! Great find on the bike!!!

I wasn't sure if I needed to swap out the cam sprocket on the regular 110 or not, I thought just the L. Oh well, I'll find out when I order the shit up
