188 kit to 165 what u think??

my bros engine 188 kit in his bike has to much compression and just eats first gear and the kickstarter gear bbr said either a compression release or go to 165 what u think so it never happens again?? its happened 3 times with hd out put shaft and first gear i think just go down to 165 like bbr said any ones help would be great??

COMP RELEASE IS GREAT BUT I WENT FROM A 165 WITH 10M STROKE APPX 190/195 ish,hated starting it,just to much to race with,
went back to a non stroke mtr and love it,not as much torq but easier to push when racing imo..

thats what im thinking man i hate starting that thing its a damb work out and a 165 is still fast enough im leaning to the 165 thanks for the response!!
