buy anything other than a 2002 if you plan on modifying it. definitely buy one already modded, or partially modded. these parts are way to expensive new, and depreciate quickly.

Stay away from 03 they are suppose to have bad crank or something. Thats what they say on here.

I would buy one already built. You can get a killer deal for $3500-4000. A bike that you can buy with Marzoochi and a good rear end(BBR,CHP,BIG Minnis. Two Bros) is the way to go.

A buddy of mine has his on here for sale in the complete bikes for sale for 4200 and I know he has 7-8k in it.

you can buy fully mod bike for 4000.00-5000.00. thats the the way to go. If you cant afford that much do what the other guy said buy at least 03 or newer. 2002 motors are different thats why you don't want to buy 02.

I'm 40 and I had a klx now I have 2 PitsterPro x4s for much less then it would have cost me to buil my klx! the x4R has Marzocchi forks and Elka shock (Elka 400 extra) you can have the GPX built for less then 500$

Because if you are over 5'8 and weigh over 165lbs you cant ride a 65 or a 60. Its kinda like a monkey ----ing a football.

You may as well plan on selling that PW80 as soon as you get that KLX. Your 9 year old will never want to ride the PW again. I bought my 11 yr old son a KLX for a pit bike. (He's ridden it more than his YZ85 since we got it.) The problem is his younger twin sisters, who have a XR70, now want a KLX!

You can get away alot cheaper than 3 or 4 grand. Unless you're loaded and don't care. Go buy a used 03 or up for a thousand or so. Then do the free air box and pipe mods and some stiffer springs for your weight and it's definetly ridable. Granted not as plush as a 4k bike but it will only cost you about 12 to 15 hundred to get it set up as "rideable". After that bling it out as you like one step at a time. Just bling it out right the first time. Just my .02.

Cuz this is a pitbike forum. Two strokes do not make good pitbikes. Most of us are around 6 foot weighing 160-200, a two stroke 65 couldnt move us.

powerbands suck for adult riders on minis. plus the kx is a race bike not a pit bike.

    Any year after the 2002's.

and as far as build or buy built? its pretty much like anything else..depends on what kinda money you wanna spend. Buying one already built will save you a ton.

Re: klx questions from a 30 year old.

I would definately suggest the klx 110 that jthenderson669 vbmenu_register("postmenu_692762", true); i is selling. For $3500 it is the best deal on the PM forum I have seen. If you can not spend that much get a x4 (used $1,500), x4r (used $2,000), or the new motovert pro (delivered $2,700). Pitster and motovert are considered to be the best chinese bikes out there and you would have to spend about 7K in upgrades alone to match the performance of the new motovert pro.
